"In Croatian perlinki translates to guinea fowl, a very old land bird species. There is a Belarusian ballad called Bielyja i zalatyja perlinki (white and gold pearls), that is set in royal times. Just one family in the American state of Wisconsin has Perlinki as a surname. These aren’t cryptic messages. The musical duo Perlinki are paving new ground for this peculiar word with their charming pop pearls.

What began as a cute concept for a band quickly evolved into a genuine shared persona with grand ambitions to build an island from scratch. After seven songs into the album this task is actually plausible to the listener. We understand. Steph Miles and Macklin Leslie meld a keen understanding of bedroom recordings with a long love for video game soundtracks.
